“Harry Potter” is getting an all-star upgrade as Audible and Pottermore Publishing revealed more additions to the massive ensemble behind “Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio Editions,” the upcoming seven-part audiobook adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s iconic series.
New Harry Potter Audiobook Casting Revealed
According to Variety, the latest round of casting includes Kit Harington as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, Keira Knightley as Professor Dolores Umbridge, Iwan Rheon as Professor Remus Lupin, Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix Lestrange, Ambika Mod as Nymphadora Tonks, Leo Woodall as Bill Weasley, Simon Pegg as Arthur Weasley, James McAvoy as Mad-Eye Moody, Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout, and Matt Berry as Sir Cadogan.
In a statement, McAvoy shared his excitement about taking on one of the franchise’s most distinctive characters. “I am absolutely thrilled to bring the fiercely determined Mad-Eye Moody to life in these dynamic audio editions from Pottermore and Audible,” he said. “He’s a layered character, constantly shifting between battle-hardened intensity and unexpected moments of wisdom. Capturing his commanding presence was incredibly fun.”
The new stars join an already stacked lineup that includes Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall, and Cush Jumbo as the narrator.
Release Schedule and Young Leads Revealed
The first installment, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” will be released exclusively on Audible on November 4, 2025. Each of the remaining six audiobooks will debut monthly worldwide through May 2026.
Young actors Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton will portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in audiobooks 1 through 3. Stanton is also playing Hermione in HBO’s live-action Harry Potter TV series, currently filming in the United Kingdom. Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis will step into the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione for audiobooks 4 through 7.
Last week, Audible and Pottermore announced Mark Addy as Hagrid, Alex Hassell as Lucius Malfoy, Daniel Mays as Dobby, and sisters Sara and Avni Deshmukh as the Patil twins. Additional casting announcements are expected this fall.
Following “Sorcerer’s Stone,” Audible’s release schedule is as follows: “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” on December 16, 2025; “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” on January 13, 2026; “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” on February 10, 2026; “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” on March 10, 2026; “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” on April 14, 2026; and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” on May 12, 2026.
