Mario Lopez is spreading festive cheer this holiday season by recreating his viral underwear photo. It’s not just any photo, though; it is a snap of the “Access Hollywood” host and Great American Family actor wearing bright red underwear while decorating his Christmas tree.
Mario Lopez Impresses Fans
The photo first surfaced on the internet in 2012, when Lopez’s loving wife, Courtney Lopez, posted a picture on X showing him decorating their tree while standing on a ladder in a black T-shirt and red underwear. Their daughter, Gia, is also in the image, holding the ladder for her dad. It’s a moment that is equal parts sweet and hilarious.
“My husband looks hot rockin his @RatedMOfficial with his little elf….#lovethem,” Courtney captioned the photo. At the time, reactions included, “Wow! He looks amazing lucky you Ms. Lopez :),” and “Wow, gotta get my hubby some of those & a tall Xmas tree!.”
People magazine thought it would be a brilliant idea to recreate this photo, 13 years later. They went to the family’s Los Angeles home for a photoshoot, and Courtney reflected on the original picture in an interview. “I was decorating a tree at our old house, and [Gia] was there, I couldn’t reach the star, so I asked Mario to do it, and she just [grabbed his legs] on her own,” she told People. “I happened to just have my camera, and I snapped that picture. The rest is history. It just went viral. We call it, at our radio show, the Lopezy.”
A Christmas to Remember
The Lopez family also posed for photos together for their Christmas photoshoot. A picture shows Mario, Courtney, and their three children wearing matching Christmas pajamas. Even their three adorable dogs are involved in the picture. Family is so important to the Lopez clan, and Mario spoke about his love for his nearest and dearest in the interview.
“It’s all about familia. Spending time together, drinking, eating, gambling, listening to music, watching movies and just checking out and focusing on what’s important,” he said of their priorities this festive season. “Not worrying about all the other stuff, just locking in and being with each other.”
On December 1, Mario and Courtney celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary with a cute Instagram video of them dancing. “Married to my favorite person to laugh with, dance with, and get lost in the moment with…Still crazy about you… and still surprised you’re still putting up with me,” he wrote in the caption. “Te quiero mucho mi amor.”
It’s going to be a wonderful festive season for Mario because, in addition to this photo, he is also the star of two Christmas films this year, which will air on Great American Family. “The Christmas Spark” is already airing, and “Chasing Christmas” will be available on December 21, People reports.
