For decades, fans have been unable to watch the “Friends” spinoff series starring Matt LeBlanc, “Joey.” Now, all episodes are available to watch for free on YouTube, including eight episodes that never aired in the United States, according to TVLine.
The ‘Joey’ Spinoff Explained
After the massive success of “Friends,” LeBlanc got the opportunity to star in his own sitcom, named after the character he embodied for ten years. In “Friends,” Joey was a struggling actor who got his big break when he was cast in the soap opera “Days of our Lives.”
For the spinoff, Joey moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career. There, he reunites with his sister, Gina, and moves in with his rocket-scientist nephew, Michael.
The series picked up where “Friends” left off, airing just four months after the season 10 finale. Per TVLine, the series pilot premiered to a whopping 18.6 million viewers, proving just how hungry audiences were for LeBlanc and his character.
Unfortunately, the ratings dipped from there, and the show was canceled after only two seasons. The final eight episodes aired in other countries, but NBC neglected to show them to American audiences.
How To Watch ‘Joey’
GettyFor about two decades, “Joey” was nearly impossible to watch. The series could not be found on any streaming services, and DVDs were hard to come by. In fact, according to TVLine, “Joey” season 2 was only released on DVD on some regions outside of the United States.
Luckily, in March 2025, the official “Friends” YouTube Channel began uploading “Joey” episodes for free. The channel aired two episodes a week. As of November 18, 2025, all 46 filmed “Joey” episodes are available for consumption.
Matt LeBlanc’s Career Post-‘Friends’
Getty“Friends” and “Joey” were not the end of LeBlanc’s career. The actor played a satirical version of himself in a BBC and Showtime series called “Episodes,” which followed two British TV writers as they attempted to remake their successful comedy for an American audience. “Episodes” was LeBlanc’s first TV role since “Joey.”
Later, LeBlanc both starred in and produced a sitcom called “Man with a Plan,” in which he played a dad learning to take on more parenting responsibilities when his wife returns to the workforce.
