Julia Roberts lit up the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards, stepping out alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Hudson, and a lineup of A-list stars for a night packed with glamour. Hollywood’s crème de la crème arrived in New York City on December 1, turning the red carpet into a full-on fashion showcase.
Roberts Channels Princess Diana in a Standout Purple Look

GettyThe double-breasted blazer with a plunging neckline and the wide-leg pants quickly drew comparisons to Princess Diana’s classic 1980s style.
GettyDiana often wore jewel tones, strong shoulders, and polka dots, and Roberts’ look reflected all three.
GettyShe wore her red hair in soft, center-parted waves and added layered multicolored beaded necklaces for a playful finish. The actress, who attended the event with director Luca Guadagnino, looked bright and youthful as she greeted fans and photographers.
The Actress Earns Praise for Her Work in ‘After the Hunt‘
Roberts earned a nomination for her role in Guadagnino’s film “After the Hunt.” In the drama, she plays a professor who becomes tangled in a tense situation involving a student and a colleague after serious accusations surface. She stars alongside Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri.
Roberts recently reflected on working with Garfield. “First take, [Andrew] just blows in and has this great scene,” Roberts shared. “And you know, it’s a long scene, and then it’s over. You know, ‘Cut.’ I was just like, ‘Whoa, I’m sweating,'” she told “Good Morning America.”
She had equally warm words for Edebiri. “It’s been really such a beautiful thing to sit next to Ayo, who I really admire and adore, and to listen to the words she chooses, and the way that she sees the world and this movie.”
Roberts has been leaning into the academic aesthetic of “After the Hunt” throughout her press tour. She has worn collared dresses with ties, crisp blue button-downs and blazers, and even a suit paired with capri pants.
At the Gotham Awards, her bold purple suit sealed her status as one of the night’s fashion standouts. With major stars, high-fashion statements, and Roberts’ dazzling appearance, the 2025 Gotham Awards delivered a memorable night of glamour and celebration for the film world.
Roberts was not the only one turning heads. Rihanna arrived in a pastel pink ensemble that concealed her growing baby bump. Kate Hudson stepped out in a sleek black gown, while Jennifer Lawrence brought her signature modern glamour to the carpet.
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster also appeared, matching in classic black looks. Jackman wore a tailored suit and tie, and Foster chose a sparkling black gown with spaghetti straps and pointed heels.
