Miranda Lambert is grieving the loss of two of her most cherished animals on her Tennessee farm. On November 20, the country music icon revealed that her miniature horses, Sugar Pie and Adrianna, had passed away on the same day. She summed up the heartbreak of pet loss with one sentence, calling the worst part of being “an animal mom” the moment you have to “say goodbye.”
Lambert Sums Up Her Grief: ‘The Worst Part Is Saying Goodbye.‘
Lambert shared a montage of photos of the minis she had raised for nearly 20 years. “My sweet little nuggets Sugar Pie and Adrianna crossed over the rainbow bridge today,” she wrote. “I’ve had 18 years with these littles and I can’t tell you how much joy they brought me.”
GettyShe candidly reflected on the grief of losing them, adding, “The best part about being an animal mom is the joy. The worst part is when the time comes to say goodbye.”
Gratitude for Those Who Helped Care for Them
The singer also expressed gratitude to the people who helped care for the minis while she was away on tour. “Full of gratitude for them and for Tommy, Julia and Sarah and everyone who helped take care of them and give them the best life when I was on the road all these years,” Lambert wrote. She and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, live on a 400-acre farm with many other animals.
In her closing message, she addressed Sugar Pie and Adrianna directly. “Godspeed little bitty’s. I know you are both in greener pastures as I type this. I’ll see y’all again one day. Big love.”
Fans and Country Artists Rally Around Her
GettyAfter the country music icon shared the heartbreaking update on Instagram, fans and fellow musicians quickly flooded the comments with condolences and support.
One fan wrote, “All horses go to heaven. So sorry Ran.” Fellow country artist Julianna Rankin added, “I’m so sorry, sister. May they run fast and free up there.” Another follower commented, “I am sure you gave them the best life ever.”
Another fan shared: “Oh my. So sorry, I certainly know how this feels. Minis are precious and so many get ‘thrown away’, these two were lucky, to be with you, bless them 🌈 💓💓”
Lambert did not share further details about their passing, but her emotional tribute showed how deeply she is grieving. As she holds on to memories and the bond she built with Sugar Pie and Adrianna, fans continue to surround her with support, knowing that what she called the most challenging part of loving animals is ALWAYS having to say goodbye.
