Candace Cameron Bure just dropped some behind-the-scenes truths that even longtime fans might not know. In a new video shared by Great American Family, the Christmas movie queen herself revealed what actually surprises people most about being on set; and let’s just say, it’s a lot more crowded than you’d expect.
The video also gives fans a sneak peek at the “Full House” alum’s upcoming holiday film, “Timeless Tidings of Joy,” which premieres November 15 at 8:00pm ET on Great American Family and streams November 13 on Great American Pure Flix. The movie’s got time travel with a 1940s setting, and even a sweet mother-daughter duo. Yep, Candace Cameron Bure is starring alongside her daughter, Natasha Bure. Basically, it’s giving classic holiday comfort with a twist, and we’re here for it.
A Massive Crew Gets It Done
It seems like fans picture Christmas movie sets as small, cozy productions (maybe a camera or two and a little fake snow) but Bure says that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I think people don’t realize how many people it takes to make a movie. We have a crew of probably 200 people. As you can see, look around all the camera equipment, but there’s lots of people. Shooting this movie that takes place in 1945. We have incredible background actors, and they’re all dressed to the nines in their costumes, too. So much work and effort goes into it, but that’s how we make a beautiful movie for you.”
Let’s be real; when you’re recreating 1945 with full costumes, extras, and vintage sets, that’s no small feat. And somehow, Bure still makes it look effortless every single time.
Making Christmas Movie Magic
Believe it or not, these heartwarming movies come together quicker than anyone expects.
“Shooting a movie is probably faster than you think. It takes 15 working days to make one of these movies. I really wanted to do a time travel movie, and I worked with these two great writers that have written a couple of my other Christmas movies and an Easter movie, Macy McClane and Taylor Kalupa. Together, we thought of a really cool time travel story, but they really put all the details together and put a beautiful script.”
And this one’s extra personal. “This one was always meant for my daughter and I to do together. It’s a mom’s dream come true to work with one of your children,” Bure added. “Natasha is such a wonderful actress, and it’s just a blessing to me. I love being with her. I love working together. We’re living together while we’re making this movie. So it’s pretty special for me.”
While the two haven’t prayed together on set, Bure said, “I’m certainly in prayer every day over the movie.”
