Inside ‘Tidings for the Season’: Filming Locations & Cast Stories

Hallmark’s latest Christmas movie, “Tidings for the Season,” premieres on Sunday, November 16 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The movie stars Tamera Mowry-Housley, B.J. Britt, and Elijah-Justus Lewis. Read on to get the inside scoop on the movie, including where it was filmed and behind-the-scenes cast stories.

‘Tidings for the Season’ Was Filmed in Vancouver, Canada

“Tidings for the Season” was filmed in the Vancouver region of Canada in August. Filming the movie included some dramatic moments, even before shooting began.

B.J. Britt told EntertainmentNOW that the day before he was scheduled to fly into Vancouver, his car was totaled after he was hit in a wreck. His left hand was injured so badly, he had to go to the hospital.

Britt told EntertainmentNOW he needed 15 stitches but he insisted that they not delay production, even though he was offered that option. He said the pain was excruciating, but he was determined to still make it into work and hide his injury with winter gloves. He said that when he was sitting at a news desk for certain scenes and clasping his hands together, it hurt so much and “you could see a little blood trickle down.”

Director Linda-Lisa Hayter shared some behind-the-scenes moments and photos. She wrote that it was “a truly enjoyable journey” workign with Britt, who was “probably the most charismatic fellow you’ll ever meet.”

Hayter also shared a photo of her and Tamera Mowry-Housley enjoying a dip in the pool in between filming shoots (since they filmed in August, it was still warm enough to swim.)

Teena Ree Gowdy, who also stars in the movie, replied to Hayter’s post: “Thank you Linda for being so gracious with my first MOW on the Hallmark stage🤗🙏🏽.”

She also shared a post with some behind-the-scenes moments of her own.

Mowry-Housley told EntertainmentNOW that Britt was energetic and kind throughout the entire filming, and she really enjoyed working with him.

“We were shooting a scene — the first scene where we really got a little flirty with each other — and he had to stop,” she told EntertainmentNOW, laughing. “He was like, ‘Oh, wait, wait, wait, I lost where we were. This just felt too real, Tamera. You’re an amazing actor!’”

Meet the Cast

Hallmark’s synopsis for the movie reads, “Adam Kade (Britt) is the serious face on the local news. His life takes an unexpected turn in early December when he meets Robbie (Lewis), a 10-year-old who is Adam’s biggest fan. Robbie has an important request: He wants his favorite newscaster to talk about more than just what’s going wrong in the world. How about reporting on the good stories too? Adam is ambitious and wants to move up in the world, but he takes this question to heart as the holidays approach. He discovers Robbie’s mom, Lucy (Mowry-Housley), is a single parent working hard to take care of her son. The last thing she needs is anything complicating a very busy schedule, including Adam. As new friendships form and Adam gains a healthy perspective, his reporting changes. He starts covering feel-good stories about hometown heroes during the holidays. A romance develops between Adam and Lucy, and Lucy lets go of always being so self-reliant as she and Adam draw close. But when Adam’s reporting leads to bigger opportunities, he must decide what matters most this holiday season – the bigger job he has been longing for or his newfound community, including the love of a boy who thinks of Adam as his hero.”
